Capturing Thoughts

We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do.
We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons,
to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning
and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle
that keeps people from knowing God.
We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 nlt

They come trickling in,
day after day.

Thoughts.

Who are they from?

Are they true?

Whose voice am I listening to?

Even if I do not engage them,
even when I shoo them off,
the lies do damage.

Wearing down the truth, belief, trust —
just like water on a rock.

This is a battle.

If I choose to sit on the sidelines,
damage is done.
Freedom is lost, bit by bit.

I have been given weapons to fight —
not as the world fights —
but to battle for truth.

The battle is against the lies.

Each and every thought that is a lie
must be taken captive.

For the truth sets me free.

And that about wraps it up.
God is strong, and he wants you strong.
So take everything the Master has set out for you,
well-made weapons of the best materials.
And put them to use so you will be able to stand up
to everything the Devil throws your way.
This is no afternoon athletic contest
that we'll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours.
This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight
to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.
Be prepared. You're up against far more
than you can handle on your own.
Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued,
so that when it's all over but the shouting
you'll still be on your feet.
Truth, righteousness, peace, faith,
and salvation are more than words.
Learn how to apply them.
You'll need them throughout your life.
God's Word is an indispensable weapon.
In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare.
Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters.
Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up
so that no one falls behind or drops out.

Ephesians 6:10-18 msg

"If you stick with this, living out what I tell you,
you are my disciples for sure.
Then you will experience for yourselves the truth,
and the truth will free you."

John 8:32 msg
