Light Breaks Through

I have told you these things, so that in Me
you may have [perfect] peace and confidence.
In the world you have tribulation and trials
and distress and frustration;
but be of good cheer
[take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]!
For I have overcome the world.
[I have deprived it of power to harm you
and have conquered it for you.].

John 16:33 amp

Jesus paid it all!
All to Him I owe.
Sin had left its crimson stain —
He washed it white as snow.

My vision can be so clouded so often.

So much gets in the way
so that I can't see You.

Within, without,
lies, cares, worries, things
block my view
weigh me down
keep me from
truth
peace
joy
freedom.

I keep forgetting to look.

My gaze rests everywhere
but on You.

I forget You are there.

I think I have to do this
on my own.

Once again I remember.

I lift my eyes.

Light breaks through.

Abundant Life!

From Jesus Calling — May 2

"Living in dependence on Me is the way to enjoy abundant life.
You are learning to appreciate tough times,
because they amplify your awareness of My Presence.
Tasks that you used to dread are becoming
rich opportunities to enjoy My closeness.
When you feel tired, you remember that I am your Strength;
you take pleasure in leaning on Me.
I am pleased by your tendency to turn to Me
more and more frequently,
especially when you are alone.

When you are with other people,
you often lose sight of My Presence.
Your fear of displeasing people puts you in bondage to them,
and they become your primary focus.
When you realize this has happened,
whisper My Name; this tiny act of trust brings Me
to the forefront of your consciousness,
where I belong.
As you bask in the blessing of My nearness,
My life can flow through you to others.
This is abundant life!"

So often, I start my day so close to You.

So full of peace

and trust

and joy.

And then the day starts rolling.

The noise starts.

Activity gets jumping.

And I forget.

How many days to I
go to bed feeling the distance,
realizing that I left You behind
sitting at the kitchen table.

But, thankfully,
the truth is, You have never left me.
You have never forgotten me,
and all I have to do is whisper Your name
and turn my thoughts to You.

The fear of human opinion disables;
trusting in God protects you from that.
